Will Marshall
Founder & Lead Trainer — MEng (Hons), MIET
Having worked in corporate, SME, and early-stage start-up environments, Will founded Bright Sustainability with a clear mission: to provide businesses with real, actionable, value-added sustainability services. He believes sustainability shouldn't be the preserve of large corporations with dedicated teams and big budgets — SMEs make up 99% of UK businesses and have an enormous collective potential to drive change.
After studying Electrical Engineering and New and Renewable Energy Engineering, Will worked in the infrastructure industry in a variety of management roles before moving into the world of SMEs. This combination of technical rigour and first-hand SME experience means he understands the real-world constraints smaller businesses face — tight budgets, limited time, and competing priorities.
As an accredited Carbon Literacy trainer, Will has delivered training to hundreds of professionals across Greater Manchester and beyond, helping them understand climate change and take practical action in their workplaces and daily lives.
Will also founded Emitrics, an AI-driven carbon accounting platform currently on the Exchange tech accelerator, making carbon measurement simple and accessible for businesses of all sizes.

How we got to where we are today
Greener Business Framework
After assisting a number of businesses with sustainability projects, Will created the Greener Business Environmental Management System — a free framework to help SMEs get value for money when pursuing sustainability.
Bright Sustainability Founded
Following the success of Greener Business, Will launched Bright Sustainability to provide a higher standard of sustainability consulting to SMEs, led by those with first-hand experience working in the SME environment.
Sustainability Platform Launched
Launched the first version of the Bright sustainability platform, giving SMEs the tools to measure and manage their environmental impact independently.
Carbon Literacy Accreditation
Became an accredited Carbon Literacy training provider through the Carbon Literacy Project, bringing certified training to businesses across Greater Manchester and beyond.
Emitrics & Bright Zero Carbon
Founded Emitrics, an AI-driven carbon accounting platform now on the Exchange tech accelerator, and launched Bright Zero Carbon, a renewable energy brokerage helping businesses switch to green energy at competitive rates.
